What Through Eternity Tours offers
Through Eternity is a Rome company first and a tour brand second. It has guided travellers in the city since 1999, and the catalogue still reads like the work of art historians rather than a marketing department: alongside the Colosseum and Vatican you will find the mosaics of Rome’s early churches, Caravaggio’s paintings in situ, the Domus Aurea, the Borghese Gallery, and a cheap introductory walk for the first evening. Private and custom itineraries are a large part of the business, as are accessibility-adapted tours.
The company promises guides who are native or fully fluent English speakers, provides headsets on any group of six or more, and caps groups at 12 on most tours (15 on a few). Private tours are available in German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, French and Russian. Customer care runs from 7:30am to midnight CET, seven days a week, on an Italian mobile number and a US toll-free line. Rick Steves, Frommer’s, Fodor’s, Lonely Planet and National Geographic are cited as recommending the company.

Prices and group sizes
Prices span €31 for the introductory walk to €191 for the arena-floor Colosseum tour, with semi-private tours typically €65–150. The arena tour is the outlier: The Roman Guy sells an arena-floor tour from about US$85 and LivTours a 1.5-hour early-morning version at €114. Through Eternity’s justification is duration and depth, but €191 needs a reason. The Borghese tour at €132 and Domus Aurea at €52 are fair value given the ticket components.
Group caps of 12–15 put Through Eternity between the boutique operators (LivTours at 6, Context under 12) and the large brands (16–25). With headsets from six people upward, the cap is workable inside the Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum. Private tours are priced for two people with a per-person supplement.
What the price includes
The Colosseum tours include the entrance ticket and, on the arena tour, the arena-floor supplement; the Borghese tour includes the compulsory timed reservation, which sells out weeks ahead in high season; the Domus Aurea tour includes the site ticket and the virtual-reality element that is part of the official visit. Walking tours such as the Introduction to Rome, the Caravaggio tour and the mosaics walk include only the guide, because the churches are free to enter (Caravaggio’s canvases in San Luigi dei Francesi and Sant’Agostino may require a coin for the lights). Headsets are included on groups of six or more. Food, transport and gratuities are not included.
Because the cancellation policy deducts costs already incurred, the tours with tickets attached (Colosseum, Borghese, Domus Aurea) are the ones where a late cancellation costs money; the walking tours can be cancelled up to 24 hours ahead at no loss. Book the ticketed tours only once your dates are fixed.

The official site shows a 4.7 rating from about 430 reviews. On Tripadvisor and Google the pattern over many years is praise for guides who are art historians and archaeologists, for the pace of the small groups, and for a customer-care team that answers late in the evening. The company’s presence in Rick Steves’ and Frommer’s recommendations means many reviewers arrive with high expectations, and most report them met.
Complaints are specific rather than systemic: the arena tour’s price, one or two guides whose lectures ran long, and niche tours whose ratings rest on a single review. A private Piazzas of Rome listing shows 3.5 from two reviews, which illustrates the small sample problem rather than a quality issue. No pattern of refund disputes was found; the 24-hour policy is clear and reviewers rarely mention it.

Book on througheternity.com with email confirmation; the customer-care team replies within 24 hours and is reachable from 7:30am to midnight CET. The cancellation policy is explicit: full refund for cancellations up to 24 hours before the start, minus costs already incurred such as pre-purchased tickets; refunds go to the original payment method and international refunds can take 30 days or more. Verdict
Through Eternity Tours is the operator for travellers who want a Rome-based company with real art-history depth, groups of 12–15 and a cancellation policy they can read. Its Borghese, Caravaggio, mosaics and Domus Aurea tours are products the big brands do not match. The Colosseum arena tour is overpriced against the market; buy that elsewhere and spend the difference on a second Through Eternity tour. After 25 years in Rome, it remains one of the safer premium recommendations.
