What My Best Tour offers
My Best Tour was set up in 2010 by four friends, each second-generation in the Rome tour trade, and operates as a licensed travel agency (ADV 18878, VAT 15164011007) with offices at Via Sardegna 67 near Via Veneto and Via Santamaura 9 by the Vatican. Offices open Monday to Saturday 9:00–19:30; tours run daily.
The catalogue at our last check is broad but the golf cart is the engine:
- Golf cart tours — private electric carts through the side streets with hotel pick-up; the company’s best-seller.
- Vatican tours — private guide, skip-the-line tickets, Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s.
- Colosseum tours — Colosseum, Forum and Palatine with a private guide.
- Combinations — golf cart plus a guided Vatican or Colosseum entry.
- Other formats — walking tours, Vespa rides, bike tours with optional food and wine, food and wine walks, fashion shopping tours.
- Cruise and transfers — packages collecting passengers at Civitavecchia; private transfers across Italy; day trips by car.
- Accessible tours — itineraries for elderly and disabled visitors.
Two details tell you about the company’s attitude: pets are welcome on golf carts and minivans (not inside museums or churches), and the site publishes its licence numbers.
Tours and prices
The official site takes bookings through FareHarbor but the verifiable prices are on Tripadvisor, in US dollars, at our last check:
| Tour | Duration | From | Product score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4-hour private golf cart tour | 4 h | $260 | 5.0 from 211 reviews |
| 3-hour private golf cart “mini tour” | 3 h | $231 | 5.0 from 151 reviews |
| Rome by Night golf cart tour | 2 h | $219 | 5.0 from 19 reviews |
Tripadvisor labels these “per adult”, but the products are private and a cart seats up to six, so treat the figure as per booking until confirmed. At $231–$260 for a cart, a family of four pays roughly €55–€65 per head for three to four hours with pick-up — competitive with shared seats elsewhere. A couple pays double that per head, which is where LUXURBE (shared seats from about $77) or GetYourGuide’s private imperial-city tour from about €49 per person become better value.
Vatican, Colosseum and transfer prices are quoted on request through the site.
What travellers report
Tripadvisor: 4.9 from 1,544 reviews, ranked #13 of 1,322 outdoor activities in Rome at our last check, with 5.0 product scores on all three golf cart tours. Reviewers name guides (Mimmo and Andrea recur), praise fluency in several languages, and repeatedly mention gelato and restaurant recommendations and the cart’s access to lanes that buses cannot use. Cruise passengers describe being collected in a minivan at the port and handed to a cart guide in the centre. One reviewer recounted a flat tyre on the motorway being handled by rearranging a Colosseum underground slot — the kind of story that only appears when logistics are well run.
Two cautions. A cruise-port customer reported scheduling and time-management problems while still crediting the guides. And a Rick Steves forum thread titled “My Best Tour – looking for reassurance” includes a poster who felt some reviews “sound fake” because of their detail. The volume and consistency argue against that, but read a page of recent reviews yourself.
Booking and cancellation
Book on mybesttour.com via FareHarbor, by phone (+39 06 9432 9438), email or at either office; tours also sell through Tripadvisor/Viator. Cancellation terms were not stated on the homepage checked; FareHarbor operators commonly allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and platform bookings carry platform rules. Give the hotel address when booking so the company can confirm it is inside the cart’s pick-up range, request child seats, and for cruise packages supply the ship name and docking time.
Alternatives on GetYourGuide/Tiqets
The direct comparison is the private golf cart tour of imperial Rome with hotel pick-up on GetYourGuide — 4.8 from about 1,200 reviews, from about €49 per person, free cancellation up to 24 hours before. The wider golf cart tours category lists night, sunset and family versions, and the private tours category covers private Vatican and Colosseum guides if you want to assemble the same day from separate bookings.
Our golf cart tours guide explains routes and what a cart can and cannot reach, and the accessible Rome guide covers step-free options for the sites themselves.
Verdict
My Best Tour is the most credible golf cart specialist in Rome on the evidence: a licensed agency since 2010, two offices, transfers and cruise logistics under one roof, and 5.0 product scores from several hundred reviews. Book it for a family or a group of four to six, and especially for a cruise day where pick-up at Civitavecchia matters. Couples and solo travellers should compare per-person shared seats first. For a private golf cart tour of Rome with hotel pick-up, My Best Tour is a first-rank choice.
