What Greenline Tours offers
Green Line Tours (branded Greenline in most searches) is a Rome-registered bus operator based at Via Farini 16, two minutes from Termini. Its core product is an open-top hop-on hop-off service, but unlike the two international franchises it also sells its own guided tours from the same office: an afternoon Colosseum and Roman Forum tour, a morning Classical Rome coach tour, a Diocletian Baths combination with priority entry, a one-hour Trastevere food-and-wine tasting and a cooking lesson. Brand demand is real — the name appears in Tiqets’ Rome catalogue export — which is why it gets a full profile here rather than a line in the hop-on hop-off guide.
The hop-on service runs three routes at our last check:
- Green Route — the main sightseeing loop, from Terminal 1A near Termini, 9:00–18:30, every 15–20 minutes at major monuments in summer.
- Orange Route — a Testaccio-focused food itinerary, departing Terminal 1B at 12:20 and 15:00.
- Blue Route — a museum and art itinerary, departures between 12:20 and 15:00 from Terminal 1B.
Fifteen stops in total; one ticket covers all three routes. Audio commentary comes in 16 languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Arabic, Hindi, Hebrew, Greek, Polish) through earphones you keep, with WiFi on board, a city map and the GLT app.

The Colosseum tour at €88 is dearer than GetYourGuide’s flagship (from about €49), so buy that elsewhere; the Classical Rome coach tour at €45 is a reasonable half-day for anyone who wants seated orientation rather than walking.
What travellers report
Green Line’s own site shows only a single five-star review on the Classical Rome tour, and a Tripadvisor score could not be verified for this profile. Judge it by the format: hop-on buses in Rome — all brands — draw the same complaints, namely traffic on Via Nazionale and around Piazza Venezia that stretches a “loop” to two hours, headphone sockets that fail, and long waits at busy stops mid-afternoon. Green Line’s advantages are structural rather than reputational: more routes, a Termini base that suits arriving visitors, and the Testaccio and museum itineraries that City Sightseeing and Big Bus do not run.
Booking and cancellation
Buy on greenlinetours.com, at the Via Farini 16 office (Monday–Friday 8:30–17:00 by phone, WhatsApp daily 9:15–19:15), from the Terminal 1A stop, or through Tiqets. Cancellation: no penalty up to 24 hours or one working day before departure; less than 24 hours or a no-show is charged in full; tours including entrance tickets carry a non-refundable €30 per person. Timed passes start at first use, not at purchase, so a 24-hour ticket bought at 15:00 is worth using next morning as well.
Alternatives on GetYourGuide/Tiqets
Tiqets sells Rome hop-on hop-off tickets including Green Line’s, with the platform’s own refund handling. Greenline Tours is the most complete hop-on hop-off product in Rome — three routes, honest child pricing, a Termini base and add-on guided tours — but not the cheapest, and its reviews could not be independently verified for this page. Choose it for the Orange and Blue routes or if you are basing yourself near Termini; choose City Sightseeing or Big Bus on GetYourGuide if you want a single loop for the least money. For the Colosseum, skip the €88 add-on and book the platform flagship. As a Rome hop-on hop-off option, Greenline Tours earns a qualified recommendation.
