The model has two distinctive features. First, tours are “exclusively private” — no strangers joining your group — with the single exception of a small-group Colosseum Arena tour capped at 10. Second, you choose the guide. Profiles show each guide’s background, languages and style, and you pick at no extra cost. Whether a figure is per person or per group varies by product; the $762 Vatican tour is clearly a group price for a longer, ticket-inclusive itinerary, while the early-bird figure reads as per person. Read the listing before comparing. As a rule of thumb, a private licensed guide in Rome costs €60–€90 per hour plus tickets, so a three-hour private Colosseum tour for two at around €220–€250 sits at the market rate, not above it.

The themes are consistent: “perfect guide”, skip-the-line entry working as promised, and the Sistine Chapel handled well. Several reviews mention attentiveness to older travellers and a willingness to slow down or reroute — the practical benefit of a private format. Repeat-visit intent (“wouldn’t go back without booking”) comes up more than once.
Negative reviews are scarce. The realistic drawbacks are structural: you pay private rates, and the choose-your-guide promise depends on availability in peak months, when the most requested guides book out weeks ahead.

The company’s own cancellation terms were not visible on the pages checked; the GetYourGuide listings follow the platform’s standard, typically free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, which is the safer channel if your dates are uncertain. Vatican early-entry tours use timed tickets and are usually non-refundable inside 48–72 hours regardless of channel — confirm before you pay.
Meeting points are at the site entrance or your hotel by arrangement. Bring ID for name-matched Vatican tickets and dress with shoulders and knees covered for St Peter’s.
