What Tiqets is
Tiqets is an Amsterdam-based ticketing platform founded in 2014. Where GetYourGuide and Viator are tour marketplaces, Tiqets started as a way to buy museum and attraction tickets on a phone in under a minute, and that is still its centre of gravity. Its Rome catalogue is a mix of official venue tickets (Castel Sant’Angelo, Capitoline Museums, Villa Medici) and operator products that bundle a reserved slot with an audio guide or an escort (Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Pantheon).
At our last check the export of its Rome catalogue shows 335 products across 101 venues, from the big three to Cinecittà World, the Bioparco and the Museum of Illusions. That breadth in small and mid-size venues is where it differs from every other platform reviewed here.
How it works for Rome
Browse Rome attractions on Tiqets or the current offers page. Each listing shows availability by date, timed slots where the venue requires them, an inclusions list and one line stating the cancellation policy. Most products are instant confirmation: the QR ticket lands in your email and in the app within a few minutes.
For timed venues pick the slot carefully; for the Vatican and Colosseum the operator may send a second email with the venue’s own ticket, and that is the one scanned at the gate. For untimed products (Castel Sant’Angelo open tickets, hop-on hop-off, airport buses) the ticket is valid for the chosen date or period. Show the QR from the app; nothing needs printing.
Fees, prices and price parity with official ticket offices
Tiqets adds no booking fee at checkout. The margin is inside the price, and the gap to the official ticket office depends on what is bundled. Prices below were checked at our last check.

Two patterns stand out. First, the Pantheon fast-track with a digital audio guide is the cheapest Pantheon product but the lowest rated; the version with the official audio guide costs €5.70 more and rates a full point higher. Second, on the Vatican and Colosseum the platform premium is €9–16 per person, the price of a guaranteed slot when the official calendar is empty.
Cancellation and refunds
This is the point that trips people up. Tiqets does not have a single platform-wide policy; each product carries its own. In the Rome export, the majority of the best-sellers — Vatican fast-track, Colosseum audio-guide tickets, the cheaper Pantheon ticket, Castel Sant’Angelo, Borghese reserved entry — are non-refundable from the moment of booking. Others, including the Pantheon ticket with official audio guide and the Vatican small-group tour, allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before the slot, and a few (Borghese small-group tours) up to 72 hours.
Cancel from the order in your account; refunds return to the original payment method within a few business days. If the venue closes (strikes, state events at the Vatican), Tiqets refunds or rebooks regardless of the product policy. For anything else, the stated line is the rule, so prefer the refundable version of a ticket when your dates are not yet fixed.
Strengths in Rome
- Pantheon. Tiqets is the most convenient place to book a Pantheon fast-track ticket: €11.80 with a digital audio guide, or €17.50 with the official audio guide (rated 4.4). The €25 fast-track plus guided tour is rated 4.6 from about 400 reviews.
- Castel Sant’Angelo. Entry plus audio-guide app at €22, rated 4.5 from about 6,500 reviews, the best-reviewed high-volume ticket in the Rome catalogue.
- Vatican Museums. The fast-track ticket at €33.60 has more reviews (about 48,400) than any other Rome product on the platform; a €79 guided tour including St. Peter’s Basilica rates 4.4.
- Borghese Gallery. Reserved entry at €29, a guided tour at €33.30 rated 4.7, and a combo with a one-day bus tour at €43 rated 4.7 from about 4,100 reviews.
- Small venues and extras. Villa Medici guided tour €20 (4.6), Museum of Illusions €21 (4.4), Bioparco €26 (4.6), Catacombs of Saint Callixtus tour €15 (4.5), Hard Rock Cafe Rome €26.90.
- Transfers. Leonardo Express train tickets at €17.90 and the SIT and Terravision airport buses at €7, all with mobile tickets.
Weak spots
- Non-refundable is the norm on flagship tickets; travellers used to GetYourGuide’s 24-hour default get caught.
- Guided tours and day trips are thin. Pompeii and Amalfi exist, but the choice is a fraction of the marketplaces.
- Some volume products rate below 4.0 (Pantheon digital audio 3.6, St. Peter’s audio guide with dome 3.3, Rome Tourist Card 3.9), usually because of queue expectations set by the word “fast-track”.
- Combo tickets pair unrelated venues (Castel Sant’Angelo plus Pantheon for €50) that are cheaper bought separately.
Customer support and disputes
Support is by chat, email and phone, with the order number as the key. Pre-trip questions are answered within hours; on-the-day problems (QR not scanning, operator absent) are handled fastest through chat from the app while you are at the venue. For disputes, describe what was promised versus delivered and attach photos; refunds outside the product policy are at Tiqets’ discretion but are granted when the fault is clearly the supplier’s.

Prefer the refundable variant of a ticket when one exists, book the official site first when it has slots, and go to a tour marketplace for guides and day trips. For a phone-first ticket buyer, Tiqets in Rome is the most efficient option.
